Bruna Donatoni: Embracing Growth and Leadership at Actemium

In our latest Women We Work With interview, we’re honored to feature Bruna Donatoni, a Senior Electrical Consultant at Actemium.

Bruna Donatoni’s journey at Actemium is a testament to her commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. Starting her career as a Junior System Integrator at Actemium Atlantic Canada, Bruna worked alongside project teams to deliver customized solutions for clients. As she gained experience, she transitioned into project management and is now successfully managing two key projects. Actemium’s support for her professional development, including sponsoring her studies to become a Project Manager, has been invaluable as she navigates this exciting career transition.

Bruna’s passion for learning began in her childhood, where her grandparents instilled in her a love for knowledge. Her grandmother’s favorite quote, “I’m 90 years old, and I’m still learning something new every day,” resonated deeply with Bruna, inspiring her to pursue a degree in Production Engineering/Industrial Engineering. As she worked in the field, she recognized the rapid growth of automation and IT sectors, prompting her to further her education by enrolling in a Software Engineering program in Canada. This combination of engineering and IT led her to a career as a System Integrator, where she could apply both of her degrees to tackle complex challenges.

Throughout her career, Bruna has faced the challenges common to many women in male-dominated industries, such as gender bias, harassment, and imposter syndrome. However, her approach has been rooted in self-awareness, self-compassion, and seeking out an environment that aligns with her values. She chose Actemium for its inclusive culture and focus on personal and professional growth. Bruna believes in the importance of mentorship, and she encourages women in the industry to seek guidance from female mentors who can offer valuable insight and support on their career journeys.

One of Bruna’s most rewarding experiences at Actemium was completing the Effective Personal Productivity (EPP) training, where she gained new skills and confidence. The experience reinforced her belief that everyone has something valuable to contribute, and she continues to use her growth to drive success within her team. Bruna also emphasizes the importance of work-life balance, attributing her ability to thrive to effective planning and the support of the right people in her personal and professional life.

As a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, Bruna sees Actemium as a company that provides ample opportunities for skill development and career growth. She believes mentorship programs are key to empowering women, offering invaluable guidance, networking, and the confidence to excel in their careers. For Bruna, the journey at Actemium is not only about individual success but also about fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
