Michelle Morgan: Leading Business Development & Partnerships at Actemium in Detroit

In our latest Women We Work With interview, we’re honored to feature Michelle Morgan, a Business Development & Partnerships at Actemium.
Michelle Morgan, Director of Business Development & Partnerships for the Detroit Business Unit at Actemium, is a driving force in fostering client relationships and supporting the growth of the business. Her role centers around expanding Actemium’s capabilities within the Food, Feed, and Beverage sectors, with a particular focus on supporting the company’s strategic growth through the KARE strategy. As Michelle works to ensure the prosperity of the Detroit business unit, her efforts are pivotal in building long-lasting partnerships and driving new business opportunities.
Michelle’s interest in automation was sparked early in her career, particularly through her work addressing supply chain issues with manufacturers in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry. Witnessing the stark contrast in performance between two companies—one heavily invested in automation and the other not—she saw firsthand the transformative power of automation in improving market share and operational efficiency. This experience fueled her passion for solving manufacturing challenges and opened her eyes to the vast potential of automation in reshaping industries.
In her role, Michelle has found a supportive and accepting industry, one that has not presented significant gender-related challenges. She credits her success to a strong network of mentors and peers who support and inspire her. Michelle’s advice for other women aspiring to enter similar roles or industries is clear: believe in yourself, continuously seek learning opportunities, embrace challenges as chances for growth, and never underestimate the value you bring. Her confidence and adaptability have made her a strong leader in her field.
One of the most memorable experiences for Michelle at Actemium was participating in the Business Synergy Days. The internal event, organized by Peter Derks, was an incredible opportunity to network, learn, and bond with colleagues. A highlight was the scavenger hunt in Grand Central Station, which allowed Michelle to form lasting memories and connections with her peers.
When it comes to maintaining a work-life balance, Michelle emphasizes the importance of time management and setting boundaries. She prioritizes high-impact tasks, makes time for family and hobbies, and ensures to delegate when necessary. This approach helps her remain productive and fulfilled in both her professional and personal life.
Michelle also values the diversity and inclusion culture at Actemium, where everyone is made to feel respected and valued. She supports the company’s inclusive hiring practices and opportunities for professional development, and she hopes to see continued efforts to support women’s growth through mentorship programs, networking events, and leadership workshops tailored for women. These initiatives, she believes, will further empower women to thrive in their careers.
At Actemium, Michelle Morgan embodies the values of leadership, growth, and mentorship, and her commitment to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion will continue to have a positive impact on the company’s success.
