Empowering Engineers: Savannah Toombs’ Leadership Journey at Actemium

In our latest Women We Work With interview, we’re honored to feature Savannah Toombs, a Staff Development Manager at Actemium.

At Actemium, Savannah Toombs is driving growth and fostering success as our Staff Development Manager. Savannah’s role centers on empowering engineers to reach their full potential. From overseeing the boot camp training program for new engineers to organizing ongoing learning opportunities like lunch-and-learn sessions, she’s dedicated to equipping the team with the tools they need to succeed. Beyond training, Savannah mentors newer engineers as they transition to managing their own projects, ensuring they grow into confident professionals. She also contributes to strategic planning and writes proposals to support business development, showcasing her versatile skill set and leadership.
 
Savannah’s journey into engineering began during her studies in Mechatronics Engineering Technology at Purdue University. An internship with a systems integrator introduced her to the dynamic world of automation, sparking her passion for designing, programming, and troubleshooting complex systems. After three years as a controls engineer, Savannah discovered her love for mentoring, which naturally led her to her current role. Today, she combines technical expertise with leadership, helping engineers succeed while supporting exciting projects across industries.
 
One of Savannah’s proudest moments at Actemium was developing and implementing a training program for new controls engineers. Watching them gain skills, confidence, and real-world experience has been deeply fulfilling and reinforces her passion for mentoring and growth. She remains committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and inclusivity at Actemium, ensuring that every team member feels valued and empowered.
